A nice way to end it all!

Get a horrible cold and stay at home while it snows outside, after a month of wait. Drink hot soup with crispy bread and watch a lousy movie with a lousy roommate (Nimi!);) . Then go make a snowman in the blizzard and freeze your nose off. Take funny pictures with it and get back home with a bad headache(munching on choco-chip cookies)! Drink hot chocolate and go to bed. Wake up with a heavy head again and spend the whole day doing nothing, then watch pizza while eating weird food Nimi reheated!Wait till it is 8pm and start trotting towards ragha's house in the snow, skidding and sliding (and cursing Ragha all along the way), for the walk seems to take forever! Watch Ragha ram into cars on his xbox and choose not to play as it makes you dizzy. Make him quit the game and play prince of Persia instead! Hog up half a pizza while watching LOTR1! :P..Walk back home at 1am imagining that you are the nimble footed elvish princess on snow and nimi is the Ork! :P.. If this is how the end of the world feels,..I am starting to like it!

Adventure NXG

9 Jan 2012, 11.35pm
A tiring day after which all I could think of was dinner and sleep! A call from Partho. "Vaishu, are you up for a ride to the Shaker lake? Call the other chunnu munnus and find out who all want to come~!".
If there is one thing I cannot turn down, it is a ride to a water body. We start for the Shaker lake which is on the verge of freezing over, but it was a warm day, so why bother with the winter coats. Our PLAN was to hang out near the lake, take in the beauty and get back home in a half hour span. First trip to the lake, Partho's ghost stories to scare little kids. The second trip to pick up another chunnu munnu and drive back to the lake. Here comes the highlight of the day. Partho the wise announces for everyone to lock their car doors, so those who hadn't made sure they had. A little voice from the other side of the car.."Why is the music in the car still on,..wait, why is the car still on!?" Our dear absent minded Partho had left the car on ignition with the keys locked inside!
So much for the half hour trip with no winter coats.
Step one- Don't panic Kids! (saying that more to himself than us)
Step two- Scurry around the car to see if there is anyway inside (which was impossible thanks to his final order to check the doors!)
Step three- Call the insurance company "oops battery low on phone!" ETA: 1 hour! We're toast!(stands for-we are frost!~)
Have you ever noticed how the temperature drops suddenly when you don't have a coat with you. Well, that's what happened to us! The best way to keep yourself warm is by hopping around, and in this situation crashing on the filthy car bonnet with its collection of dust(the engine was running and warm!)
It is time to call our rescue mission! Seetharam and Sohani! Epic failure~ No response from either! These are times when mankind cannot be blamed for trying to psyche the car doors to open (and guess what, it doesn't work!)

If you have ever watched the movie "Cast Away", you'd understand exactly how that fateful one hour felt! Was there no one in the vicinity, let alone someone who could bring us a cup of coffee each!?

Hysteria sets in. Should we order some pizza and see whether the insurance or pizza reaches us first? Oh! there goes a cop car! Let's ask them to get us some coffee! Mind control in parallel- Dooooors ..Opennnnn!!! And there we see the distant headlights, and the phone chimes..Saved at last!.There comes our knight in shining armor! (the insurance company truck!)
We dumped ourselves into the warm car and drove to the nearest coffee place, IHOP for our breakfast at 3.30am, where the waitress had a good laugh at either our adventure or our pink noses and ears!(Am still not sure which!)
There ends another unexpected adventure in the Civic.

Cleveland Carousel!

I may have forgotten to mention this, but I am no more in located in the beautiful settings of India. My current location is Cleveland, Ohio. I have now spent 5 good months in this city, and have moved around with various types of people, I am Indian, so obviously my closer circle consists of the Indian lot in Cleveland! Mostly Graduate students who, like me, have come to pursue their higher studies here. It is new year 2012 and my first New year away from my parents, yet it turns out to be a delightful day! A visit to the lake Erie, which actually turned out to be Eerie with the gush of wind and waves and its gargantuan shore-line rocks, followed by the New year countdown at Panini's (Kinda like a pub, albeit I don't drink!) Then a movie, " Zindagi Na Milengi Dobara"(one of my all-time favorites) at Waldorf, which is the abode of some of the noble minds!

The week following this day is one of the most erratic! I have not seen so much of Cleveland in the past 5 months put together! Kudos for this exciting week go to Partho, who was brimming with enthusiasm over his new car and escorted the "little ones" to all the beautiful and desolate spots in Cleveland and Seetharam Ji who was the brain behind some of these awesome drives!! One does not normally go to these spots as there is little or no human habitation here, except for the occasional police cars!
The list of places we visited would be a must-go for all nature lovers, and go preferably after midnight! Our first drive was to lake Erie again then the port behind the Rock and Roll hall of fame, then around Shaker lake, where I made my first snowman- Which looked more like Godzilla, then had an awesome snow-ball fight with friends and watched little ducks swim by! Then the drive around Fairmount (a residential area) where we ended up clicking pictures of the year-end decorations outside houses! Next exquisite spot was the far-away bridge on top of Chagrin river! (and the amazing encounter with the above mentioned occasional cop car, which happened to occur at the same time as our joy ride on the road). He was a nice cop, so he bought what we said- note to reader: parking on the bridge to check out the river, then fleeing to the car at the sight of another pair of headlights is not a wise idea when the other pair of headlights belong to a cop car but if you do it you can always say " You stopped to get some water!". :D On our way back we hazarded a stop at a highly desolate neighborhood with pine trees and snow, which took our breath away in the moonlight!

Our next plan is adventure on a 3D screen at the Regal Cinemas! The entire lot plan on watching Tin-Tin the animated movie in 3D! The second time for me, but I believe I would watch it once more if I could! Adventure is good, whether it is virtual or in reality! :P
Then comes the exhilarating ride to the forest near Chagrin, and my almost-rendezvous with the "wolves" :P. My sound advice- If your friend ever parks his car next to an open field in the middle of a forest, try not to run towards the forest, There is a high chance of you running back with doubled up speed after seeing few pairs of glowing eyes and white forms that start moving towards you! In the safety of the car, we ride past the very beginning of Euclid avenue-which is a long road that runs through our school campus, but no one ever knew where it started!. The city lights as seen up on this road are tiny flickers of amber. Yet another beautiful sight.

There are certain things that put an end to an amazing ride, dry music on the radio is one of them! This reminds us that it is 4am and that all of us ought to get back home! So cheers to a week of fun which taught me that Cleveland has more to it than just unemployment, frighteningly low population, a boring university and a city with tall buildings!
with that revelation, so long folks-till I bump into my next adventure that is! :D
